Everything we do is tailored to suit the human we're working with.

We don’t duplicate treatment prescriptions, we don’t have pre-made sheets, we don’t churn through appointments. But underneath this tailored approach, we have a structure and a formula.

How was it designed? What's now happening? How do we bridge the gap?

The formula is applied to everything, the full spectrum of physical and mental health challenges. Here's what it might look like in practice.

Shoulder conditionHow was the shoulder designed to work – which parts provide strength, which parts provide range – not with wanky anatomical language but using simple, significant  concepts. Then, what’s happening with your shoulder – how is it different to the design? What are you doing and how are you using it that opposes the design? This part of the formula means the cause is uncovered. Finally, what do we do to address the difference. Is additional strength or increased range that’s required. Is there a need for education and re-training on how to engage a particular muscle to execute a movement

AnxietyHow was the nervous system designed to work? Then, what’s happening with yours that means it can’t toggle back to rest and digest parasympathetic mode? Finally, what do we do to reset?

The formula is applied to everything, the full spectrum of physical and mental health challenges. Shoulder condition: how was the shoulder designed to work – which parts provide strength, which parts provide range – not using wanky anatomical language but using simple, significant  concepts. Then, what’s happening with your shoulder – how is it different to the design? What are you doing and how are you using it that opposes the design? We want you to feel our values every time you interact with us.

Safety. We understand sounds, lights, smells, vigilance around doors bring an undercurrent of challenge – we understand triggers. Both the clinic environment, how you access it and move through it and we as practitioners continually observe and adjust as required.

Discomfort. Don’t mistake safety for comfort. Safety is paramount but challenging boundaries, limits and barriers is essential for change. We adjust the pace, we adjust how but we absolutely trade in the currency of discomfort. We don’t avoid difficult conversations, we go gently but we go there.

Discretion. We don’t use your story, your challenges, or your progress to market ourselves. We don’t overlap bookings to fit as many clients in as possible. We prioritise quiet, under the radar entries and exits.

Accountability. Both us to you and you to us. If we say we’ll get resources to you or follow something up, we will. Ours is black and white. Your accountability to us is more grey – if you can’t execute what we discussed, you need to maintain a curiosity about why not and we’ll go through it. If you maintain curiosity and communicate, these insights are crucial to the big picture.

One of the most profound things we teach and that makes a difference to everyday life is the difference between rest, relaxation and decompression.

Rest, the absence of movement, is necessary for muscle repair and rejuvenation. Relaxation is necessary to quiet the mind, eliminate or dull input into the senses and pause our cognitive processes.

Decompression is about the nervous system. It requires creating an opportunity for the nervous system to toggle back to its rest and digest mode and to know how to encourage this shift to occur more responsively and in alignment with the situation you’re in. It doesn’t automatically happen during rest or relaxation.
